Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks: A Simple & Flavorful Side Dish

Cabbage is no longer just a humble vegetable—it transforms into something extraordinary with this Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks recipe. These crispy, buttery slices are infused with bold flavors from Old Bay seasoning, garlic salt, and onion powder. Perfect as a low-carb side dish or snack, they are ready in under 15 minutes and cooked to golden perfection in the air fryer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 tbsp butter (per slice; olive oil works too, but butter is better!)
  • ¼ tsp Old Bay seasoning (per slice)
  • ⅛ tsp onion powder (per slice)
  • ⅛ tsp garlic salt (per slice)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Air Fryer:
Add ¼ cup of water underneath the air fryer basket to prevent smoking from any drippings. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Slice the Cabbage:
Cut the cabbage into ¾-inch thick slices to create “steaks.” Keep the slices intact for even cooking.
  3. Season the Cabbage:
Place a cabbage steak into the preheated air fryer basket. Add 1 tbsp butter in the center of each slice or drizzle with 1 tbsp olive oil. Sprinkle the slice with Old Bay seasoningonion powder, and garlic salt.
  4. Cook to Perfection:
Air fry the cabbage steaks at 360°F for 8 minutes. For crispier edges, add an additional 2 minutes and check the doneness.
  5. Serve Immediately:
Carefully remove the cabbage steaks from the air fryer and serve them hot. The buttery, seasoned layers paired with crispy edges make for an irresistible dish!
